The waterfall isn’t tucked away in the mountains, but right in the town of Triberg. There is a good car park (48.129861, 8.230528), which charges a fee. There is also a large Edeka supermarket nearby. Triberg was the first town in Germany to install electric street lighting, back in 1884. The area around the waterfall is now lit until 10 pm.
By the way, there’s an entrance fee for the waterfall too. This came as a surprise to us, as we’re used to natural sites in Germany being free of charge. Officially, this is explained by historical reasons: apparently, the waterfall has been a developed tourist attraction with an entrance fee since the 19th century.
You may come across information online claiming that the Triberg is the highest waterfall in Germany. This is incorrect, as the highest is the Röthbachfall, which is around 400 metres high.
